Every Wednesday and Thursday from July until October, Londoners are invited to join any and all of Small Change Big Difference’s free pop up cooking classes teaching kitchen skills on fermentation, food waste and sustainability.

The 30 workshops will be hosted at a variety of different locations across the capital, popping up in places such as Brixton and Battersea, Stoke Newington and Oxford Circus. The workshops are part of the Small Change Big Difference campaign which focuses on the uncomfortable fact that 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted by the food industry every year in the UK, and yet at the same time, 8.4 million people in the UK are struggling to afford to eat. To put that last figure into perspective, it's the equivalent to the entire population of London according to FareShare, the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity which was created in 1994 by homeless charity Crisis and supermarket chain Sainsbury's. The aim of the workshops is for attendees to leave with new skills and knowledge on how to make the most of ingredients that tend to linger the longest in fridges and larders, creating less waste.
If a free cooking workshop teaching sustainable cooking skills with all plant-based ingredients and recipes sounds good to you, browse the below workshops and book your free spot at eventbrite.co.uk. The £10 deposit is fully refundable.
